Meet the Farmers

Curtis Stillman

Curtis acquired Still Life Farm in May 2010. As a third-generation farmer, he holds a B.S. in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Massachusetts and learned farming from his father, Glenn, who owns Stillman's Farm.

Halley Terry Stillman

Though not formally trained, Halley's passion for food led her to farming. She graduated from Friends University with a B.S. in Field Biology and Zoo Science. Curtis and Halley married in August 2014 and have managed the farm full-time since then.

Kipling or "Kip"

Kip joined the team in January 2020, adding joy to the year. He enjoys being on the farm, attending markets, and interacting with customers. Kip participates in various farm activities, taste-tests fruit, and greets visitors.

Our Philosophy

At Still Life Farm, we believe that farming is more than just a business; it is a way of life. Our core principles include wildlife stewardship, agricultural conservation, and a conscientious approach to farming. These values guide everything we do, ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality local produce while supporting a thriving local food system.

Farming as a Way of Life

For us, farming is not just a job; it is a passion. Curtis and Halley Stillman, the husband-wife team who own and operate Still Life Farm, have worked tirelessly to transform pastureland into fruitful orchards and bountiful vegetable fields. Their dedication is evident in every aspect of the farm, from the quality of the produce to the care taken in its cultivation to the stewardship of the land it is grown on.

Agricultural Conservation

Our farm is located on land that was once the historic site of the Hardwick Poor Farm, dating back to circa 1850. Today, the property is held in permanent agricultural conservation with the East Quabbin Land Trust. This designation helps preserve the land for future generations, ensuring it remains a vital part of the local food system. We are proud to be located within the Quabbin Watershed, an area dedicated to protecting the Quabbin Reservoir (greater Boston’s water source).

Supporting Local Economy

By choosing to buy local, our customers are supporting more than just our farm; they are helping to strengthen the local economy. Every dollar spent on local produce helps create jobs, support families, and build a resilient community. At Still Life Farm, we are proud to be a part of this vibrant local food system.
